Detroit, MICH. – July 11, 2005 – Isn’t half the fun
of watching America’s favorite pastime include enjoying the dogs, burgers and
beer that goes along with it? And now, baseball fans will have the added opportunity
to experience certified organic ballpark food. Dakota Beef, the nation’s
largest 100% certified organic beef company, and Delaware North Corporation
have chosen this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star game to launch Dakota
Beef’s new line of certified organic concession products. Dakota Beef’s
one-third pound certified organic burger and all-beef polish sausage will be
decked out with certified organic condiments and served on certified organic
buns from Rudi’s Organic Bakery.

Fans at last week’s New York Yankees – Detroit
Tigers series got a head start on the rest of the nation during a trial run of
the new organic beef products. Sales were so successful that Dakota Beef and
Delaware North decided to announce their partnership at the Major League
Baseball All-Star Game. Additionally, Delaware North currently offers Dakota
Beef’s Certified Organic All-Beef Hot Dogs in the luxury suites at Jacobs Field
in Cleveland, Ohio, and at Ameriquest Field in Arlington, Texas. The program will
expand to include certified organic steaks at other Major League baseball parks
and National Parks catered by Delaware North.
“I guess this shows that eating healthy with organic
foods is as American as baseball and apple pie. It certainly proves that organic
beef is quickly becoming a real demand for mainstream consumers.” said Scott
Lively, CEO of Dakota Beef LLC. “The Sportservice team has worked closely with
Dakota Beef to ensure that the new certified organic burgers and polish
sausages are of the highest quality,” added John Verespie, general manager for
Comerica Park, Delaware North Companies Sportservice. All of the Dakota Beef
products adhere to the strict standards of the USDA’s National Organic Program.
Sales of organic products have grown at an
annual rate of 20% over the past decade, reaching $15 billion in 2004, with $32
billion in sales projected by 2009. According to The Organic Trade Association,
meat and poultry sales jumped 78% in 2003, making it the fastest growing
segment in the organic industry.
